Built on two levels in the beautiful mellow stone
of the Antrain area, the house is set about 12
metres from the road, past the old stone steps of the
Old Jewellery next door. It
is in this setting, with its old oak beams and stone walls, that the clocks sold in the former jewellery were made and repaired.
Inside, the bedroom, toilet, washbasin and vibromassage
shower (a sort of vertical Jacuzzi) are all on
the lower level; from where a beautiful old oak halfturn
staircase (very easy to climb) takes you up to
the comfortable sitting room. Here the main wall
has retained the original mellow stone. There is a
satellite television/video unit and a fully-equipped
kitchen corner.
French doors lead directly onto the patio which is equipped
with garden furniture. This easy access makes it just as easy
to eat outside as inside. The small walled garden is virtually
frost-free, so can accommodate a Mediterranean style, with
palms, lavenders, etc. A fascinating and unusual aspect for
a garden in Brittany, and the large palms on the other side
of the high end wall add to this ambience.
All services in the house are inclusive and include electric
central heating and bed linen (not towels). There are no
hidden extras. Guests repeatedly say that this little gite
has a special character and charm which enables them to
completely relax and unwind.
